Takang Ranyai Beduju Negu Ringka

Vernon Jolly Kedit - When my great-grandmother Mama Tuai (Sendi anak Ketit, or Indai Gumbek to her contemporaries) wove this blanket, she gave it a name: Takang Ranyai Beduju Negu Ringka. She wove a secret message into the patterns, a message only her descendants could unlock, decipher, recognise and comprehend. Her message, expressed seventy years ago, still inspires me. It is a powerful message, and those not of her blood are still confounded by its mystery.

The time has not yet come to unveil the secrets of the Takang Ranyai Beduju Negu Ringka. But soon, all will be revealed. For Dara Insin Temaga's ancient prophecy has finally come to an end at the seventh generation. And the three ancient sisters have been gathered together again and sleep in yellow silk, waiting to be awaken. And once awaken, they will breathe life into the terrifying jaws of Balang Bera'ang and the tips of the plucked feathers of the Burik Menaul Beragum Bejugu will be reddened again, to bless the four Kings gathered on the ruai. And Aki Gerasi shall return to restore the honour of Bilik Empat.
